Napping Ringtaled Lemurs
The zoo in Tyler, Texas is a real treat.  It's not as big as some of the city zoos, but the animals are healthy and active.  Whenever possible, animals that are compatible are mixed together to give the impression of small environments. (And there was no entrance fee!!)

I never knew that tortoises could move so fast.  As soon as the keeper put out food for them they made a "run" for it.  The keeper had to help the one in the middle get up over the rocks - then it was content to eat and let its legs dangle over the rocks!

Looking for the Keeper
Peeping over the Fence
The giraffes were really active.  The mother and baby were interacting constantly - with the mother nosing and licking the baby several times while we were watching. One of the other giraffes peered over the gate several times - looking for the zookeepers, I think.
Scarlet ibis

These birds are really beauties - scarlet ibis!
